Araglin 7 Bends of Hell Charity Cycle
On Sunday the 25th of March the Araglin Parents Association held a charity cycle to raise funds for the local school, Scoil Mhuire. There were three routes available on the day, a 5km kids’ route, a 50km tour and the 75km “7 Bends of Hell” option. Amongst those taking part on the day were several of Blackwater Triathlon Club’s finest. Frank Kiernan, always up for a challenge, took his 3 sons on the 5km Kids’ cycle. Mark Ryan did the 50km route, while Gina Lyons, Bill McAuliffe, Aidan Sheridan, Deidre Morrison , Ash, Stephen Dalton and Jim Crowley took on the 75km option. This route involved a number of steep and twisty ascents and descents that were a challenge of both fitness levels and technical skills. The cycle began in Araglin heading through Kilworth, Ballyduff, Lismore, Ballysaggart, up and down the 7 bends to Ballyporeen and then back to Araglin. Fortunately all the BTC Participants were up to the challenge and made it back safely to avail of the much needed refreshments on offer. Beautiful weather on the day ensured a really good turn out and the groups headed off that morning in the bright sunshine. This was a well organised and friendly event for a very good cause. Well done to all who took part on the day with special thanks going to the Araglin Parent’s association who organised the event and provided the much needed refreshments afterwards.
