The Camida Clonmel Duathlon

The Camida ClonmelDuathlon took place in Clonmel on Easter Monday the 22nd of April.Organised by the Clonmel Triathlon Club, this was a well run event consistingof a picturesque 4 km run along the banks of the river Suir, followed by a23km, two lap cycle along the road to Kilsheelan and back, before repeating the4km run to finish. The morning dawned bright and clear and temperaturesapproached 20 degrees Celsius as the 126 athletes gathered at the start line.Amongst them were Blackwater Triathlon Club’s Deidre Morrisson and Mick Beston.Both athletes had a great race on the day. Deidre finished in a time of 1:28:17, 8th overall in theladies section and 6th in her age group. Mick came home in 20thplace overall in the men’s race, finishing in 1:22:28. He edged out formerTipperary All-star hurler John Leahy to finish 2nd in his age category .

It was a very wellorganised race, with lots of marshals and enthusiastic crowds cheering everyoneon. There were some excellent refreshments available  in the hall afterwards as the presentationstook place after the event. Well done to all who took part on the day.
