The Bere Island Midsummer Run.
Blackwater Triathlon Club member,Michelle Kearney, was also in West Cork last weekend, travelling down to Bere Islandto take part in the annual BereIsland Midsummer Run. Theevent took place on Saturday the 13th of July, starting at 1pm.There were two races on offer on the day, a 5k and a 10k and a 5k walk around the scenic roads of Bere Island.This was Bere Island's 7th Midsummer Run and nearly100 athletes took part in the two races. It was a beautiful summer day, but theheat combined with the hilly route, made it a very tough day out for therunners. Michelle finished the 5k in 34:53 and was more than ready for somerefreshments afterwards. It was a well run and enjoyable event, with plenty oflocal support to help the runnerson. So if anyone fancies a run on a scenic West Cork Island next summer, start planning yourtrip now.
