Celtic Warrior
On Saturday the 31st of July , Blackwater Triathlon Club members, Terry Broderick and Dermot Johnson, were in Mullingar in County Westmeath for the Celtic Warrior Weekend event. Celtic Warrior had arranged a wide variety of races for triathletes and non-triathletes alike. Athletes could take part in everything from a full Iron distance event to almost any other combination of distances that they wanted. Terry Broderick took part in the iron distance race on the day. It consisted of a 5 lap, 3.8km in Lough Ennell 5 laps, followed by 6 30km loops around the lough and Mullingar before finishing with an 8 lap marathon. Terry completed this in a very impressive 12:15:50. Dermot did an unusual combination on the day, starting with a 1500m swim followed by the 180km cycle and then finishing with a 10km run. It was a really interesting and well run weekend, giving athletes an opportunity to do an event that catered for their strengths. Well done to all who took part.
