Marymount Christmas Cracker Cycle.
Blackwater Triathlon Club members, Marie MacAree, DaveMcGrath, Niamh Fleming and Julian Boeg, were also burning a few calories inpreparation for the BTC Christmas partyas they were amongst the hundreds of cyclists that took to the roads of Cork onSaturday the 7th of Decmeber to take part in the annual Marymount ChristmasCracker Cycle. This popular annual cycle is a fund raiser for the MarymountHospice. Each year Marymount needs to raise €3.5 million in order for it tocontinue to provide its services, so this is a very good cause. There werethree routes on the day a 4km mini Cracker family cycle from Marymount toBishopstown Church and back, the 64km Midi Cracker from Marymount toBallinspittle, Kinsale and back to Marymount and the 80km Maxi Cracker fromMarymount to Innishannon, Bandon, Kinsale and back to Marymount. The Blackwatercontingent did the 80km cycle. Weather conditions were good on the day and theweary cyclists were treated to refreshments on their return to Marymount. Thereis no entry fee to the event, but participants are asked to make a donation onthe day. Well done to everyone who took part on the day.
