Community Support Initiative.

Since its initial founding, over a decade ago, The Blackwater Triathlon Club has striven to be a community based organisation in the Fermoy area. The vast majority of our members live in Fermoy and the towns and villages of North Cork. The local community have embraced the club and supported us and our events brilliantly over the years and part of the club’s ethos has been to try to give back to this community when we can. Each year we try to make some charity donations to local organisations. This year has been a tough year for everyone with many clubs, charities and community based organisations struggling to keep going. Last weekend Blackwater Triathlon Club’s Chairperson, Niamh Fleming, Treasurer, Ashleigh Byrne-O'Brien and Assistant-PRO, Anne Furlong, met with representatives from these organisations to present them with the donations. These donations were a contribution in respect of the great work they have been doing in Fermoy over the years and the help and support we as a club have received from them. Over the years we would not have been able to run our triathlon and aquathlon events without help from Fermoy Rowing Club and Blackwater Search and Rescue. The Lion’s Club was also a great support to us when we were organising the Great Blackwater Swim. Thanks to them and all our members and supporters over the years. Hopefully, 2021 will be a better year for all of us.
