Carrick On Suir Triathlon

On Sunday the 5th of August, the banks of the River Suir were once again the setting for the Carrick on Suir Sprint Triathlon. The race is now in its 25th year and draws a large number of triathletes from around the country. It is also one of the preferred races for first time participants to the world of triathlon. Over 200 participants took part in the event on Sunday, with 5 members of The Blackwater Triathlon Club among their numbers. The race consists of a 750 metre downriver swim, followed by a 20km cycle and a 5km run. Conor Bartley was next in 1:10:19, followed by Peter O’Brien in 1:15:44. David Harte was next home, just 2 places and 14 seconds behind Peter in 1:15:59!Stephen Dalton completed the Blackwater Quintet, finishing in 1:18:07.  Once again the Carrick on Suir Triathlon Club hosted a friendly, well organised event.
