Boston Scientific Clonmel Half Marathon
Blackwater Triathlon Club members Therese Ryan and Liam O’Connor took a trip to Tipp on Sunday 25th August 2019 to take part in the Boston Scientific Clonmel Half Marathon. This is a popular event on the race calendar for athletes hoping to race in the Dublin City Marathon and is limited to 1000 competitors on the day. The race, which is hosted by Clonmel AC, takes the athletes on a relatively flat and beginner friendly course through the countryside around the town. The weather on the day was very warm and loads of spectators turned out to cheer the athletes home. Liam, who was competing at the distance for the first time, crossed the line in 39th place overall in an excellent time of 1:26:28. Therese also had a good race, finishing in 2:04:50. Well done to both the BTC athletes and everyone else who turned out on the day. Liam described it as “a great race and a fantastic route”, and much credit must go to Clonmel AC for running such a great event.
