The Rebel Run

The Cork Rebel Run 5km & 10km event took place on Sunday October 20th in Bishopstown. Sponsored by Cork County Council and Cork City Council and organised by Cork Sports Partnership, CIT and Leisureworld, the race is now in its 9th year and is a popular event on the Cork running calendar attracting athletes of all fitness levels. In total over 900 athletes took part on the day, with 381 runners finishing the 5k race and 562 in the 10k. Both events start from CIT and finish on the athletics track, a unique feature of the Cork Rebel Run. Blackwater Triathlon Club’s Justin Ryan was among the 562 starters for the 10km race. He described the conditions as dry, but brisk. He and all the other runners soon warmed up though once they set off on the reasonably flat course, and he was definitely pretty warm by the time he crossed the finish line, finishing in 5 th place overall in a time of 36:38. Well done to Justin and all the athletes who took part on the day.
