The RESCHEDULED 2017 RNLI Myrtleville to Church Bay 2km open water sea swim took place on Thursday, July 13th . All proceeds from the event were donated to the RNLI. This is a challenging 2km swim in open water conditions from Myrtleville Beach to Church Bay, with majestic views of Roche’s Point lighthouse, the entrance to Cork Harbour and the odd cruise liner, oil tanker or navy vessel passing by. 311 swimmers took part on the night. Amongst them were Blackwater Triathlon Club members Marie MacAree, Dave Dowling, Julian Boeg, Niamh Fleming, Aidan Fitzgerald, Dave Mulcahy and Bill McAuliffe. Conditions were excellent and every swimmer completed the course in under an hour, with Amy Wolfe the first out of the water in an amazing 23:43. Well done to everyone who took part on the night. It was , as usual, a really well organised and friendly event which helped raise funds for a very worthy cause.
