Marymount Christmas Cracker Cycle.

Blackwater Triathlon Club members, Marie MacAree, Dave McGrath, Niamh Fleming and Julian Boeg, were also burning a few calories in preparation for  the BTC Christmas party as they were amongst the hundreds of cyclists that took to the roads of Cork on Saturday the 7th of Decmeber to take part in the annual Marymount Christmas Cracker Cycle. This popular annual cycle is a fund raiser for the Marymount Hospice. Each year Marymount needs to raise €3.5 million in order for it to continue to provide its services, so this is a very good cause. There were three routes on the day a 4km mini Cracker family cycle from Marymount to Bishopstown Church and back, the 64km Midi Cracker from Marymount to Ballinspittle, Kinsale and back to Marymount and the 80km Maxi Cracker from Marymount to Innishannon, Bandon, Kinsale and back to Marymount. The Blackwater contingent did the 80km cycle. Weather conditions were good on the day and the weary cyclists were treated to refreshments on their return to Marymount. There is no entry fee to the event, but participants are asked to make a donation on the day. Well done to everyone who took part on the day.
