Well what an exciting day it was for the club today. From local waters to European waters our members were on the go today.Saturday 25th September Mallorca 140.6 & 70.3Location Sunny Mallorca šŸŒž superb racing today from Gina Lyons, Ann Lyons and Eleanor Fennessy. Gina Lyons took 1st place in her age category and 4th female overall Ann Lyons took 4th place in her age category and 16th female overall. Eleanor Fennessy was unfortunately run over during and that ended her race. Wishing Eleanor a speedy recovery. Thanks to Niamh and Julian were selflessly went out to support them well done šŸ‘ Tri an TĆ”bhairneCrosshaven Tri Club Distance Olympic Closer to home and in very foggy conditions a few of our male members took to the water in fountaintown. Starting with two laps of 750m swim, the fog didn't help with sighting. With conditions clear the cycle was a hilly course well hilly went you had to do it 3 times. With a flat for 1k the run was followed by 3k hilly course. But our lads did us proud and each competing to the best of their ability. What a wonderful sunny autumn weekend, with the sun out and the temperatures up the weekend was perfect for Triathlon racing.Three events this weekend saw our members travelling to Youghal, Waterford and Wexford. Moby Dick Triathlon - Youghal Saturday 18th September Hostel by South Coast Triathlon Club Distance: Sprint & Junior race too 200m swim 1.8k run.Youghal location is very familiar to our members, for training or just heading for a walk on the beach. Well done to new member Marian Twomey who completed her first Triathlon and was placed first in her age category. Marian was in good company with Kay Quirke (2nd in age group), Brian O'Hagan, Ken Steele, Dermot Johnson, SiobhĆ”n Steele (1st in her age group) Mick Beston, Chris Gallahue, Mike Lyons (3rd with an impressive 1hr 8mins) Justin McCarthy Hook or by Crook - Dunmore Waterford Saturday 18th September Distance - Sprint Well done to Clem Leonard, Jonathan Kenneally and Mary O'DonnellThe course has a hill and you get it at the end of the swim to transition, at the end of the bike and at the start of the run. But what a venue some view.Pikeman - Rosslare Wexford Sunday 19th September Distance - Olympic Heading further east today Eileen Ryan did a solo run to race in Rosslare. Eileen completed Olympic distance Triathlon. Solo run may not be that accurate as Eileen reported a lot of jelly fish joined in on the swim thankfully they kept all their stings to themselves. She also commented the cycle leg was flat and fast but the run was a bit bumpy, it was a very well organised. Well done Eileen Inchadoney Beach Sunday 19th September Distance - 500m, 1k or 3k option Another sunny afternoon between the showers ā˜” charity swim event raising much needed funds for RNLI, well done to Ciara & Ian MacCallum and Mary Collins who completed the 3k swim Also a belated congratulations to Brian Baker on his 2nd place finish last weekend at the Tried and Tested Triathlon in Dungarvan.
